Pedro Canilhas is graduated in ballroom dance from World Dance Council and Imperial Dance Teachers Association of Portugal.

With more than 20 years of experience he represented his native country by several countries from all over the world, like France (European championships) and Blackpool (World championships) but he didn´t stop learning. In 2006 he obtained professional training in various dance styles like urban dances, classical and contemporary dance from Conservatory of Lisbon.

Since 2007 he taught ballroom dance for several dance academies and developed techniques to improve the interpretation, body language and couple leading, creating a project called “D’ACT – acting and performance” and he took this project to several countries like Finland, Egypt, Italy, France and USA. In 2015 he worked for the National Dance Council of America building choreographies for professional dance couples and the competitive approach as well in Houston, TX. He was participated in several Children Shows like “Festival del Clan” in Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza and Valladolid, as well as worked on publicity campaigns for McDonalds, Benefit by Sephora and Lipton Ice Tea.

In other hand he has television experience acting in best youth series of Portugal called “Morangos com Açucar” and as a dance competitor on a Talent Show “Let´s Dance” reaching the final. In order to complete his artistic experience, he decided to improve his communication by working with Portuguese Gymnastics Federation and the International Gymnastics Federation as a sports announcer in several competitions like Europeans and Worlds championships.

In 2017 he created “DOCTOR DANCE®”, a dance project where the main concept is to provide a personalized teaching experience so that everyone can learn to dance without being forced to dance school schedules and so each person can learn from their personal dance coach when and where they want.

Students of 1st Baccalaureate will enjoy in these workshops as a complementary activity of the didactic unit “LITERARY CARNIVAL PROJECT”.

Finally, we would like to express our gratitude for the collaboration of AMPA JACARANDA in the realization of these workshops.
